1000m: Starts in a chute with a 450m run to the only turn which is a dog leg. Barriers are of little importance.
1300m: Starts in the back straight of the hillside course and has a run of just over 200m to the first turn. There is a tight turn to the side of the track. Inside barriers are advantaged here particularly in large fields.
1400m: Starts on the hillside course proper in the back straight and has a run of around 300m to the first turn. With the tight bend at the first turn good barrier positions are an advantage.
1600m: Starts at the entry to the back straight and has a long run of around 500m to the first turn. Barriers are of little importance here.
1700m: Starts in the chute in the back straight and once joining the hillside course there is a long straight run of around 700m to the first turn. Barriers are of little to no importance.
1800m: Located at the very end of the back straight, or the chute down the back, and is regarded as the fairest start on the hillside course. A long 800m run to the first turn gives every horse it's chance.
2200m: Starts in the home straight and has a run of around 200m to the first turn. Inside barriers are an advantage.
