1000m: Starts on the course proper with a slightly angled run of 150m to the first turn. Inside barriers are critical.
1100m: Located in a chute off the course proper, this barrier provides a slightly angled run of 250m to the first corner. Inside barriers are a distinct advantage.
1200m: This barrier is located in a chute off the course proper and provides a run of 350m to the first corner. Inside barriers are an advantage.
1350m: Starts in a chute off the course proper, providing a straight run of almost 400m to the sweeping bend out of the back. Inside barriers are of slight advantage in larger fields.
1500m: Located on the course proper on the side of the track. There is a short run of 200m to the first bend. Inside barriers are critical.
1666m: Similar to the 1500m barrier, but with 366m of straight turf to the first corner. Inside barriers are very important.
2100m: Located in a small chute at the top of the home straight. Inside barriers are an advantage.
2500m: Seldom used start, located in the 800m chute. Barriers are of little importance.
